Koyfin Review 2026: Plans, Pricing, and Limits
Koyfin built its name as the free-tier answer to a Bloomberg terminal, and for a lot of what a self-directed investor does daily, that reputation holds. The screener, the customizable dashboards, and the sheer size of the global dataset are real. What is less understood is where the free tier actually stops, what the paid tiers add in order, and that the parts of the product built to actually hold your money (My Portfolio) work differently from the marketing screenshots of the advisor tools. Everything below was checked against koyfin.com in September 2026.
If you are trying to decide whether to leave Koyfin rather than whether to try it, the Koyfin alternatives post covers that ground. This one is about the product itself.
What Koyfin is
Koyfin is a browser-based research and dashboarding platform covering global equities, ETFs, bonds, and macro data. Its pricing page lists five plans: Free, Plus, Premium, and two advisor tiers, Advisor Core and Advisor Pro. The pitch is a customizable, spreadsheet-and-dashboard research desk: you build your own screens and layouts rather than read someone else's report. A companion page aimed at describing the product plainly states Koyfin provides "institutional-quality data powered by S&P Capital IQ," and directly invokes the comparison this review avoids: "$5,000 to $30,000 per seat per year for Bloomberg Terminal," from koyfin.com/llm-info.
Plans and pricing
Prices below are the monthly figures published on koyfin.com/pricing and repeated on koyfin.com/llm-info and koyfin.com/pricing-llm-info, checked in September 2026. Koyfin's pricing page states "Save up to 30% with an annual plan," but the exact discounted annual total is not shown as static text on the page; it appears once a plan is selected at checkout, so it is not repeated here.
| Plan | Monthly price | Financials history | Watchlists / Screens | Screener covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 2Y financials, 1Y estimates | 2 / 2 | Stocks |
| Plus | $39 | 10Y financials, 10Y estimates | Unlimited / Unlimited | Stocks, ETFs |
| Premium | $79 | 10Y financials, 10Y estimates | Unlimited / Unlimited | Stocks, ETFs |
| Advisor Core | $209 | 10Y financials, 10Y estimates | Unlimited / Unlimited | Stocks, ETFs, mutual funds |
| Advisor Pro | $299 | 10Y financials, 10Y estimates | Unlimited / Unlimited | Stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, SMAs |
Koyfin's refund language, from the same pricing page: "We have a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If for any reason, you're not satisfied with your purchase, simply let us know within 30 days and we'll be happy to issue you a full refund." Plans "auto-renew at the end of the billing cycle," and cancelling keeps paid access "until the end of the billing period."
If a number on this page ever disagrees with what koyfin.com shows you at signup, the vendor's own page wins; pricing pages change without much notice.
What each tier unlocks
Free is a real product, not a locked demo: 2 years of financials and 1 year of forward estimates, "My Portfolios," advanced charting, market and macro dashboards, 2 watchlists and 2 screens, 2 custom dashboards, and limited company snapshots and news, per the pricing page.
Plus ($39/month) is where the ceilings come off for research: financials and estimates extend to 10 years, ETF holdings and an ETF screener are added, watchlists, screens and custom dashboards go unlimited, company snapshot coverage expands to "100K+ global company snapshots," and full-history press releases, filings, transcripts and premium news unlock (Free is limited to a shorter history on transcripts). Koyfin's own guide to the plans frames Plus as fitting "regular fundamental research," tracking a handful of accounts, and the first tier with global ETF data, per koyfin.com/pricing-llm-info.
Premium ($79/month) adds, on top of everything in Plus, My Portfolio's advanced analytics, unlimited custom data series and custom formulas, custom financial statement templates, and ETF valuation, per the pricing page. Koyfin's guide describes it as the plan for workflows that move past tracking into "custom calculations," per koyfin.com/pricing-llm-info.
Advisor Core ($209/month) is built for a solo advisor: model portfolios, client proposals and reports capped at 10 a month, Client Portfolios, one custodian integration, and US and Canadian mutual fund data with a mutual fund screener, per the pricing page.
Advisor Pro ($299/month) removes the advisor-tier ceilings: short and leveraged model portfolios, client proposals and reports up to 200 a month, custom report pages, multiple custodian integrations, PDF broker statement upload, portfolio management system (PMS) integrations, US SMA support, and priority support, per the same page.
Data coverage and delays
Koyfin's data footprint is genuinely global. Its stock coverage page states: "We cover all global stocks including historical prices, financials, valuation, analysts ratings, consensus estimates, news, filings, and transcripts," per koyfin.com/data-coverage/stocks. The plans comparison page lists global equities, global bonds and yield curves and FX, and global ETFs as available on every plan including Free, per koyfin.com/pricing/plans-comparison.
Freshness is tiered by geography, not by plan. Koyfin's help center states plainly: "For US stocks, the price data is a combination of live data and 15-minute delayed data. Canadian price data is 15 minutes delayed. For all other countries, price data is end-of-day," and a last-trade timestamp is available by hovering over a ticker, per koyfin.com/help/faq/is-your-data-live-or-delayed. Anyone holding a mix of US and international names should read that as: the US book is close to real time, everything outside North America updates once a day.
Charting and the screener
The screener is the plan boundary that matters most day to day. Free screens stocks only; Plus and Premium extend that to stocks and ETFs; Advisor Core adds mutual funds; Advisor Pro adds SMAs, per koyfin.com/pricing/plans-comparison. Chart templates follow the same shape: 2 on Free, unlimited on every paid plan, per the same comparison page.
Charting itself is described as customizable rather than trading-grade: the graphing feature page describes layering "over 100 different series related to fundamentals, technicals, performance, valuation, consensus estimates, and analyst ratings" onto a chart, saving the layout as a reusable template, and building scatter charts for "cross-sectional analysis" across many stocks at once, per koyfin.com/features/advanced-graphing. That page does not name individual indicators or drawing tools; it describes categories of data series rather than a technical-analysis toolkit spec sheet.
Portfolio and watchlist features, and what "brokerage linking" actually means
This is the part worth reading closely, because "portfolio" means two different products inside Koyfin depending on the plan.
My Portfolio, the feature every plan including Free gets, tracks holdings you add yourself. Koyfin's help documentation describes building a portfolio by "adding your current holdings" manually, or by uploading "a CSV that includes the ticker or ISIN, quantity, purchase date, and cost," or by exporting a Koyfin Watchlist to CSV and re-importing it, per koyfin.com/help/my-portfolios. Individual purchase lots can be tracked, with "aggregate and lot-level data, including P/L, for each of their investments," added through an "Add Lot" button, and lots across multiple accounts roll up under a parent position in one portfolio currency. That is real lot tracking. It is also entirely manual: nothing in that documentation describes an automatic sync from a bank or brokerage into My Portfolio.
Client Portfolios is the feature with the direct account connections, and it is gated to the advisor plans. Koyfin's integrations help page states that custodian integrations, including Schwab, Altruist, TradePMR, Interactive Brokers and Fidelity Wealthscape, along with portfolio management system integrations like Black Diamond, Orion and Addepar, are "only available in Client Portfolios, which are part of the Advisor Core and Advisor Pro plans," per koyfin.com/help/topic/integrations. Even there, the sync is narrower than it sounds: the Schwab integration note specifies "only current holdings will be retrieved from Schwab, not the transaction history."
So for an individual on Free, Plus or Premium, a linked brokerage account in the sense of automatic daily sync does not exist. Watchlists are unlimited from Plus up and can be exported to a portfolio, but getting a live book means retyping it or re-uploading a CSV whenever it changes.
See your book without re-typing it
Helm links Plaid to your brokerages and reads the current holdings automatically, no CSV upload, on every plan including Free.
Connect a brokerage freeWhat Koyfin does not do
It does not read the whole book across brokerages automatically, unless you pay for the advisor product and only for one client account type at a time. My Portfolio is manual or CSV-based for every individual plan; the live integrations exist solely inside Client Portfolios on Advisor Core and Advisor Pro, per koyfin.com/help/topic/integrations.
It does not do tax-lot automation or tax-loss harvesting. Lots can be entered and tracked manually inside My Portfolio, but the plans comparison page returns nothing for tax-loss harvesting or wash-sale screening, and no help article describes either. Cost basis is something you type in, not something a linked account reports.
It does not connect a filing to the reason you hold a position. Company filings and transcripts are available starting on Free with limited history and expand to full history on Plus, but they are documents to read, not a signal tied back to a thesis. A screener finds candidates and a dashboard displays data; neither one flags that a 10-Q you are holding for just changed the story.
It is not a live-linked, single account per user for a non-advisor. Free and Plus cap My Portfolio to structures built around manual accounts; the automatic multi-custodian pull that consumer aggregators (Plaid included) are known for is an advisor-tier feature, not a retail one.
Who it fits
The plan names in Koyfin's own guide describe the intended buyer directly. Plus fits, per koyfin.com/pricing-llm-info, "regular fundamental research," dividend research, global ETF work and tracking a handful of manually maintained accounts. Premium fits workflows that need custom calculations and formulas layered on top of that research. Advisor Core fits "a solo advisor working with one custodian," and Advisor Pro fits firms running multiple integrations, PMS platforms like Black Diamond or Orion, or higher report volume.
In practice: an individual investor who wants a global, dashboard-driven research desk and does not mind retyping or CSV-uploading their holdings gets real value starting at Plus. Someone who wants their actual brokerage accounts pulled in and kept current without manual work is not the audience Koyfin built My Portfolio for; that audience sits inside the advisor tiers, working with someone else's money, not their own.
Where Helm fits
I build Helm Terminal, so weigh this with that in mind. Helm is not a research destination for screening the whole market by ticker, and it does not try to be Koyfin's competitor on charting or dashboards. It does one different job: read-only Plaid sync across the brokerages a person already has, so the book itself, not a manually typed copy of it, is what gets analyzed for concentration, tax-loss candidates and earnings exposure, with filings and market reporting read against the reason a position is held. Koyfin is where you go to research a name before buying it. Helm is what keeps watching the position after Koyfin's job is done. The free plan at helmterminal.dev does not need a CSV.
Verdict
Koyfin earns its reputation on breadth: global coverage on every plan including Free, a real screener that gets meaningfully wider at Plus, and financial history depth that easily rivals paid competitors. The free tier is not a bait-and-switch; it is usable on its own for someone doing occasional research. The paid tiers are well organized around a clear line: Plus buys full history and unlimited research tools, Premium buys custom analytics on top of that, and the advisor tiers buy client-facing reporting and the live account integrations that individual users do not get. The gap to know before signing up is My Portfolio: it tracks lots and cost basis, but only what you type in or upload, with no automatic brokerage connection until the advisor plans. Anyone who wants their real accounts read without re-entry needs a different tool for that specific job.
Nothing here is financial advice. Prices and plan limits were checked on koyfin.com in September 2026 and change; the pricing and plans comparison pages are the source of record.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Koyfin cost?
As of September 2026, koyfin.com lists five plans. Free is $0. Plus is $39 a month. Premium is $79 a month. Advisor Core is $209 a month and Advisor Pro is $299 a month. Koyfin advertises up to 30 percent off with annual billing but does not publish the exact annual total on the pricing page itself, so the discounted rate shows at checkout.
Is Koyfin data real time or delayed?
Koyfin's own help center states that US stock price data is a combination of live data and 15 minute delayed data, Canadian price data is 15 minutes delayed, and price data for all other countries is end of day. A last trade timestamp is shown when hovering over a ticker.
Can Koyfin link to a brokerage account automatically?
For individual investors, no. Koyfin's My Portfolio feature is built on manual entry or CSV upload of holdings and lots, not a live account connection. Direct integrations with custodians like Schwab, Altruist, TradePMR and Interactive Brokers exist only inside Client Portfolios, a feature limited to the Advisor Core and Advisor Pro plans built for financial advisors.
Does Koyfin have a free plan?
Yes, and it is permanent rather than a timed trial. Free includes 2 years of financials and 1 year of estimates, 2 watchlists, 2 screens, 2 custom dashboards, and limited news and company snapshots. There is no credit card requirement and no expiration.
Does Koyfin do tax-loss harvesting or track tax lots?
Koyfin's My Portfolio can track individual purchase lots with quantity, cost and purchase date, but only when entered manually or uploaded by CSV. Its plans comparison and portfolio help pages make no mention of tax-loss harvesting, wash-sale screening, or automatic lot tracking from a linked account.
